LEE, Lim Dart Loving husband of Elizabeth, who predeceased him, proud parent of
Carol (Adrian), Lester (Teresa) and Michael (Karen) and doting grandfather of
Jasmyn, Nikki, Matthew, Desi, Amanda and Maggie. Surrounded by family, Lim
died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, December 18, 2011, and has joined his
beloved Liz in heaven.
He
was 87 years young. Affectionately known as "Limmie" to his friends,
Lim led a full and successful life. Shortly after graduation from UBC in 1950,
he was the first Chinese-Canadian to own and operate his own pharmacy in
Canada. Lee's Pharmacy, at the corner of Main and Pender, featured in
Vancouver's Chinatown for over 30 years.
Lim was a well-known and respected contributing member of Vancouver's Chinese
business community. He served as a director for several organizations,
including The Arbutus Club. An avid tennis player, he played at several clubs,
founded the Panda Tennis Club which won a coveted City Championship in the
early 70's, and covered the Canadian tennis scene for a regional publication
for many years.
Lim loved jazz music from the Big Band Era. Learning, particularly foreign
language study, was a lifelong passion and Lim could often be overheard
practicing his Japanese, Mandarin, and Cantonese vocabulary throughout his
golden years. Lim's sunny disposition and infectious sense of humour will be
greatly missed by his family and friends, all of whom have special and fond
memories.
Rejoice knowing that Lim and Liz will dance through eternity stepping to their
favourite tune, Glenn Miller's "Stairway To The Stars".
The
family wishes to thank the many health professionals at St. Paul's who helped
Lim over the years, in particular, Dr. Marla Kiess and Drs. Lawson, Ling, Lim
and Webb.
