How a face job can lead to trouble
BEIJING - Chinese women who have undergone
plastic surgery are realising that their new looks may be getting them into
trouble - they are facing questions over their identity because they look
different from the photographs in their identity cards.
Due to changing ideals of beauty and rising
incomes, many Chinese women are turning to surgery to change the way they look.
Officials at Shenzhen's public security
bureau have advised those who had gone under the knife to update their identity
cards to avoid future problems.
Madam Wang, a tourist seeking accommodation
in the north-eastern city of Dalian last month, was astonished when four hotels
refused to let her stay because 'her identity card doesn't seem to be hers'. She
had gone for surgery to shape her eyebrows and nose in September, the Beijing
Morning Post said yesterday.
Another woman who had facial surgery
encountered difficulties in renewing her visa and passport because she looked
different from the photograph in her identity card. She was forced to request
the hospital to vouch for her identity, said the report.  -
